A LETTER FROM THE WHITE HOUSE
THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON
August 30, 1989
Dear Mr. Wager:
On behalf of the President, thank you for taking the time to write.
The President has said, "From now on in America, any definition of a successful life must include serving others." I see your efforts and the efforts of your organization as embodying this idea. Your success has purpose and as a result you have enriched the lives of many. I applaud your endeavors.
National service is the initiative of individuals who see a need and then act to fill it. Working together, individuals and business possess the means to solve many of our nation's problems.
However, possessing the resources is only part of the solution. As Americans we must understand that we possess the responsibility to help one another. Yours is a shining example that individuals and organizations alike accept that responsibility.
The task you have undertaken is not an easy one. But, through your determination, ingenuity, and hard work you are making a difference. Good luck.
